Over the years the Brannan Events & Design team has been lucky enough to work abroad in Europe to create magical celebrations for our clients. What’s one of our favorite countries abroad where our client’s have tied the knot, you ask? Italy! (And that’s not just because of the amazing pizza and pasta and endless supply of aperol spritz!) There’s something special about getting married in an Italian Villa and I’ve rounded up my favorite reasons why!
#1 Be a part of history
Whether you’re getting married at the picturesque Lake Como, in the stunning rolling vineyards of Siena, or overlooking the Amalfi Coast, anytime you step into an Italian Villa you feel instantly transported through time. You realize how precious and fleeting time can be and at the same time, when the foundation is strong, these same moments can last lifetimes. So many of these villas are centuries old and you truly feel like your wedding is a part of history when you choose to host it in such an impressive space! Whether it’s the exterior stone, the interior marble and wallpaper, or the landscape I find myself getting lost in the enchanting beauty that we’re surrounded by! See some of my favorite Villas below:)!
#2 It’s a Getaway
Working in California’s Bay Area I work with so many clients who create destination weddings for their guests and I have to say, it’s such a one of a kind experience. We live in a time where traveling can be more accessible than it’s been before and what better reason to travel to Italy than to be a part of someone’s wedding?! It’s an amazing way to give your friends and family an excuse to vacation a little. For those of us lucky enough to travel with a US passport, we really have a unique key to see the world.
For many places in Italy tourism is their biggest industry, so done properly you can really help the local economies of small communities and build beautiful, lasting memories in the process. Many of the Villas you can get married at, also offer on site accommodations which is so convenient for you and your guests. I believe that if you go into the wedding planning process with the intention of paying respect to the place you’re traveling to, and the people who call it home, you can make that community a little bit of a better place. Plus! What a wonderful way to kick off your honeymoon! You could stay in Italy or travel to a neighboring country.
#3 The Food
I think this one goes without saying but the food in Italy is unbeatable! If you love pizza, pasta, or Mediterranean inspired food Italian cuisine is hard to beat! Once again, being in California we’re lucky to have access to some of the best produce in the world but I’m not joking when I say there’s just something different about eating a raw tomato in Italy, with a drizzle of olive oil and vinegar lol. It could be the Aperol Spritz but I truly think it’s a divine experience. And it’s no surprise- but you’ll never tire of an Italian pizza or a simple pasta dish. The beauty is in the simplicity. There are so many fantastic chefs and catering teams to work with to bring your wedding cuisine to life!
#4 The Setting
Lakeside, seaside, vineyard, city; Any setting you can imagine, you can find in Italy! All of them are more beautiful than the last. Your photos and video will be jaw-dropping and you’ll love reliving the day with such a stunning space as your backdrop.
#5 The Country of Love
There’s a reason why Italy is considered to be the country of love. Maybe I watched the Lizzie McGuier movie one too many times as a tween, but anytime I’m there I feel like the world is full of possibilities. Nothing beats a nighttime stroll through the glowing cobblestone streets of an Italian town, holding the hand of the person you love, listening to street performers and soaking in the hustle and bustle of the café nightlife. It’s truly magical and 1000% lives up to the hype.
For these reasons and more I’d really encourage considering an Italian Villa for your destination wedding!
